Boldness Rooted in Reliance

Boldness Rooted in Reliance

Reading: Acts 14:3 and Psalm 46:1-3

Devotional: Paul and Barnabas responded to growing opposition not by retreating but by staying longer and speaking more boldly. Their boldness was not rooted in their own courage or confidence. It was rooted in their reliance on the Lord. Psalm 46 describes God as a refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Boldness that comes from self-reliance collapses under pressure. Boldness that comes from God-reliance holds.

The question is never whether the pressure is real. It always is. The question is what you are leaning on when it arrives. Lean on the one who sent you.

Reflection Question: When pressure increases in your life, what is your first instinct, and what does that reveal about where your confidence is rooted?

Practical Application: Identify one conversation, commitment, or act of faithfulness you have been avoiding out of fear. Take one concrete step toward it today, and before you do, pray specifically for boldness that comes from reliance on God rather than your own strength.
