Holy Awe and Divine Presence
Holy Awe and Divine Presence
Reading: Psalm 111:10; Isaiah 6:1-8
Devotional: "Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe"—the Greek word is phobos, a holy fear. This wasn't terror but reverence, an overwhelming realization that God is present and moving. Isaiah experienced this when he cried, "Woe is me, I am undone!"
In God's presence, we recognize both His holiness and our humanity. The early church didn't treat holy things lightly because they lived with constant awareness of the divine among them. When God's presence becomes real in your life, casual faith dies.
Wonders and signs followed devotion, not the reverse. The atmosphere you create through faithful living welcomes God's power. Stop treating your relationship with God as just another calendar event. Cultivate holy awe—let the fear of the Lord settle upon you, transforming how you approach worship, prayer, and everyday moments.
Reflection Question: When was the last time you felt genuinely awestruck by God's presence?
