Opposition Does Not End the Mission

Opposition Does Not End the Mission

Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 — Paul describes the experience of being hard pressed, confused, and struck down, yet never destroyed or abandoned, because the life of Christ sustains those who carry the gospel.

Devotional:
Every open door in God comes with contested territory. This is not a sign that you have missed the will of God — it is often confirmation that you are in it. Paul and Barnabas were driven out of Pisidian Antioch, yet the word of God had already spread through the region before they left. The opposition arrived too late. The seeds were already in the ground. People had already believed.

Resistance is real, but so is fruit. If you are facing pushback in a place of obedience today, do not confuse difficulty with failure. The mission is always larger than the resistance in the room. Keep going. Grace is still working ahead of you.

Reflection Questions:
  • Where in your life have you confused resistance with failure?
  • What would it mean to trust that God's work continues even when your own efforts seem to be driven back?

Prayer Focus: Pray for the courage to remain obedient in the face of opposition, and ask God to help you trust that what He has begun will not be undone by what resists it.
