What Is in Your Cup?

What Is in Your Cup?

Reading: Luke 6:43-45 — Jesus teaches that what a person produces outwardly reveals what is stored inwardly; the heart is the source of both good and corrupt fruit.

Devotional:
Life will bump you. It is not a matter of if, but when. A difficult conversation, an unexpected loss, a plan that falls apart — these are not the true problems. They are simply the moments that reveal what you have been carrying all along. The content of your character is not formed in the collision; it is only exposed there.

The question worth sitting with today is not what bumped you, but what spilled out when it happened. Was it bitterness, comparison, or fear? Or was it grace, patience, and trust? Ask God today to search your heart honestly, and invite the Holy Spirit to begin filling what is empty or correcting what has grown stale.

Reflection Questions:
  • What recent circumstance revealed something unexpected about what you are carrying inside?
  • What do you want to spill out under pressure, and what needs to change to get there?
Prayer Focus: Ask God to reveal the true contents of your heart without defensiveness, and ask the Holy Spirit to replace what should not be there with what only He can provide.
